Escentric 02 Molecules 100ml eau de toilette

Escentric 02 together with Molecule 02 represents the second completely synthetic fragrance pair, launched by Escentric Molecules. This time it was inspired by the basic scented component of grey amber, ambroxan. It is placen in the centre. The rest of the composition, just like in Escentric 01, is composed out of artful copies of the natural ingredients: a scent identical to the real musk - muscone, beautiful hedione (smells like jasmine), elderflower extract and orris. The fragrance is light with a shining and brisk opening (elderflower and hedoine) and a pleasantly warm finish. Read more about ambroxan here. The perfume was launched in 2008.

Escentric 02 explores the many faces of perfume's most prized aroma-molecule, cloaking its wearers in an air of romance and enigma. 
 
Escentric 02 100ml is centred on the elusive power of nature-identical Ambroxan (13.5%), a sensual amber molecule with almost mineral smoothness, together with the aphrodisiac notes of green jasmine bud and a sparkling 'gin and tonic' accord, a hint of Almdudler, and "that specific smell you get when you unwrap a new Apple laptop".
 
Ambroxan is a crystal-chemical structure identical to the ambrox derived from ambergris. For centuries, ambergris has been one of the most prized ingredients in perfumery. It is a somewhat mysterious substance expelled by the cachalot or sperm whale, which only attains its fine scent after a long maturation floating in the ocean. 

Ambergris is rarely found these days, and the 'amber' in a modern fragrance will be a lab-created equivalent of some of the aroma-molecules that make up its scent. The finest of these by far is the nature-identical molecule Ambroxan, synthesised from materials of plant origin by chemists at Firmenich in 1950.

Different in tone from other animal ingredients, ambergris has always been valued for its refinement as well as its sensuality. These qualities persist in Ambroxan. 

Geza Schoen describes the final effect as a "super long-lasting freshness into the drydown, with a subtle sensuality". This fragrance is the olfactory equivalent of a warm, love-fuelled weekend. 

While Molecule 02 zeroes in on the aroma-molecule, in Escentric 02 100ml, "Ambroxan takes a back seat, providing a touch of sweetness, but for the most part, it just provides power, driving the fragrance up into the air in a whoosh of marine-like muskiness,  giving that aura-like quality." says Thomas Dunckley, an award-winning fragrance expert of The Candy Perfume Boy.
